Javea / The Arenal
Javea is situated in the north of Alicante province
and this popular resort is often referred to as
the jewel in the crown of the Costa Blanca and it
is easy to see why. Javea has a relaxing and typically
Spanish atmosphere with many contrasting features
from the historic old town to the port and beach
areas with their variety of restaurants and bars.
The Blue Flag sandy Arenal beach has children’s
climbing frames, volleyball nets and gently shelves
into the sea which makes it ideal for children of
all ages. As the bars and restaurants overlook the
beach it allows parents to take time out to relax
and keep an eye on the children playing on the sand.
The fascinating historic town centre has largely
been preserved over the centuries. White houses
are adorned with wrought-iron grilles and Gothic-style
windows as you explore the labyrinth of streets
and diminutive plazas.
The old fishing port is full of character and together
with the marina is one of the main tourist areas
of the town.
El Arenal has a long, attractive promenade with
many excellent bars and restaurants to suit every
taste, serving most European cuisines. The popular
sandy beach is in a sheltered bay and there are
many shops and boutiques selling a wide range of
quality goods, beachwear and accessories.
